Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a lifelong neurodevelopmental difference that affects how a person interacts with others, communicates, and experiences the world.
It is a spectrum, meaning it affects people differently; some may need little or no support, while others require daily assistance. Common traits include social communication and interaction challenges, as well as restricted or repetitive behaviors or interests.
Symptoms often appear in the first two years of life, though diagnosis can happen later
