Teddy Ruskin is named after a bear I used when communicating with my son from around the age of 3 through to 12.
From learning to go to the toilet, brushing his teeth and reading stories, to helping us navigate some of the much bigger challenges along the way, that bear became a huge part of our lives.
In many ways, Teddy was a lifesaver for our relationship as father and son.
He helped me understand my son’s world a little better. He helped me find different ways to communicate, create a more supportive environment while still encouraging him to stretch himself, focus on his strengths and support him through the challenges he faced.
And then there were motorcycles.
For me, motorcycles have always been a lifeline. Those days when things got a little too much and I needed some space, getting out on the bike gave me that opportunity to reset.
So combining the bear and the biker just seemed right.
Two things that have played a huge part in my life, brought together to create something that hopefully becomes part of many other families’ stories too.
So keep an eye out for our 2027 10-year anniversary relay as we explore the story of Teddy Ruskin, motorcycles, autism, family and community around the UK.
Hopefully, along the way, we’ll create plenty more memories and stories together. 🖤
